Black Mountain

The mountains surrounding Black Mountain and the greater WNC offer walking options around beautiful Lake Tomahawk, hiking trails such as Greybeard, Lookout, Kitazuma and High Windy, biking trails on Kitazuma, Rainbow Trail and Bent Creek, greenways, camping, trout fishing, lakes (lake James and lake Lure) are nearby, and waterfalls such as Catawba Falls can be reached with just a short 10 minute drive east to a little town called Old Fort. The valley is home to six major conference centers, two colleges, and several summer camps.

One of the best things to do in Black Mountain is to find one of the many rocking chairs that line the streets of our downtown, have a seat, take in a breath of the rejuvenating mountain air. Then, visit one of over 35 local restaurants or stop in a gift shop, antique store or art Galleries. Black Mountain is  a "Pet-Friendly" community and has a well lit level walking trail around Lake Tomahawk which is walking distance from Downtown.
